The Scholars Programme

The Scholars Programme

At Gloucester Academy, we believe in nurturing ambition, curiosity and a love of learning. Our Scholars Programme gives every student the opportunity to extend their knowledge beyond the classroom and explore subjects they are passionate about.

What is the Scholars Programme?

The Scholars Programme is an enrichment opportunity for all of our students. It is designed to:

  • Develop a deeper interest in a subject of choice.

  • Encourage independent study through a project-based approach.

  • Build important skills such as critical thinking, organisation, and self-discipline.

  • Celebrate achievement at our Scholars’ Celebration Evening.

Each student receives a Scholars Booklet with guidance, tasks and resources to support their project work. Activities can take place during enrichment time, at lunchtime or after-school clubs, and at home.

How does it work?

  • At the start of each unit, students select their subject focus.

  • They then complete a project that stretches their learning beyond the curriculum.

  • When they believe they have completed the requirements, they submit their work to their subject teacher or place it in the student letterbox in the Heartspace.

  • Teachers review the project and award the appropriate badge(s).

Badges and Celebration

Students can earn two types of recognition:

  • Character Badges, awarded for Ambition, Excellence and Pride.

  • Scholars Badges, awarded at the Scholars’ Celebration Evening where students showcase their projects to families and staff.
