Six Years, Six Records. Gloucester Academy GCSE results reach another new high

Gloucester Academy is celebrating another landmark set of GCSE results, with the Class of 2026 achieving the highest results in the school’s history for the sixth consecutive year .

Once again, Gloucester Academy students have raised the bar, continuing an exceptional six year journey of improvement and demonstrating what can be achieved through ambition, determination and a belief in what is possible.

The strength of this year’s results can be seen across a wide range of subjects. In English, 70% of students achieved a grade 4 or above, with a third  achieving a grade 7 or above well above previous years.  Maths has also seen a major upturn with a  10% increase in the number of students achieving a Grade 5 or above and more students than ever achieving a Grade 7 or above, nearly doubling the number from last year.  Other subjects have also seen exceptional results with nearly a third of students achieving a grade 7 in Religious studies and Geography whilst  in Spanish 84% of students achieved a Grade 5 or above. In fact across all subjects, 1 out of every 4 grades were a Grade 7 or higher, reflecting the hard work of both students and staff to achieve the very best results.

These results represent far more than a set of numbers. They reflect the determination of students who have worked hard, the commitment of staff who have supported them every step of the way, and the encouragement and partnership of families and the wider Gloucester community.

Phillipa Lewis, Headteacher at Gloucester Academy, said:

“I am incredibly proud of the Class of 2026. To achieve our highest ever GCSE results for the sixth year in a row is a  testament to the determination of our students and the commitment of everyone who has supported them. At Gloucester Academy, we talk about climbing a mountain together and this set of results demonstrates the power of working together to achieve the very best for all. These results are part of a sustained journey. Year after year, our students have continued to climb higher, and this year they have once again reached a new summit. “

As the Class of 2026 leave Gloucester Academy, they do so having contributed to another record breaking year for the school and having shown the students who follow them what can be achieved when Ambition, Excellence and Pride are combined with hard work and determination.
