Gloucester Academy

Year 7 GA Apprenticeship week

Dear GA Families

We have been extremely impressed with our new cohort of year 7 students, they are a credit to you and themselves.  This week has marked a great start of their journey with us here at Gloucester Academy.

Apprentice Week

Year 7’s first week at Gloucester Academy was their ‘Apprenticeship week’.  This has ensured students are well prepared to begin their journey up their own personal mountain to the very best universities and professions.

Students had assemblies each day that covered; our expectations and rewards, routines, homework and the week ahead.  It is important that your children’s successes are celebrated and all key information is addressed so they can be successful here at Gloucester Academy.  They will have had their biometrics activated (fingerprint scan for parentpay) and your child will have received their RFL card (ready for learning card).  As your child is an apprentice they have been supported and guided through each day, ensuring their transition is smooth and informative.

Part of the apprenticeship week also included your child sitting two mini assessments, an NGRT (New Group Reading Test) and a mathematics assessment.  These will indicate your child's reading and mathematical ability to ensure they are set accordingly for their subjects.  Following these assessments all students have now received their timetable, and have been allocated teaching groups.  In addition to this, students will have completed their digital passport.  Your child will have learnt how to log into a computer, access emails, create documents and sign into their Sparx accounts.

Graduation - for students and parents

At the end of the week, we will be holding a graduation ceremony on Friday 16th September 2022. Your child would have accumulated achievement points throughout the week, as well as golden tickets and shout outs from their teachers.  We want you to come and celebrate your child’s achievements, so please join us on Friday 16th September 2022 at 2:05pm - 3:05pm.  Please arrive at the Painswick Road pedestrian entrance at 2:05pm; the graduation ceremony will begin at 2:15pm.  During this interval we will be offering drinks, cakes and pastries.  This is an opportunity to hear about their amazing week.

Please confirm your attendance by completing this GOOGLE FORM.   You are allocated ONE additional ticket.

We look forward to celebrating together on Friday 16th September 2022.
