NGRT Tests

Dear GA Families

It is essential that your children are present in school next week: all our students in years 7, 8 and 9 will be undertaking NGRT tests.  These are online tests that students complete in lessons.  The New Group Reading Test (NGRT) is a standardised assessment that reliably compare reading skills against the national average to help us get a really good measure of your child’s sentence completion and comprehension skills.  The tests adapt individually to each student’s answers, allowing us to get a really clear understanding of their reading ability.

The results will allow us to measure the impact of the reading programs that we have put in place at Gloucester Academy.  We will also be able to see if there are any skills or areas that we need to address as a result of the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic had on schooling.

Weak literacy skills risk limiting our students’ ability to access the curriculum.  Here, at Gloucester Academy, we are passionately committed to supporting every student to reach their potential and climb their own personal mountain to the best universities and professions.

Students will be taking the tests in school on the 7th, 8th and 9th of February 2022, so please support us by making sure that your child attends.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely
