Mobile Data Scheme from the Department for Education

Increasing data allowances on mobile devices to support disadvantaged children

28th January 2021

Dear Parent/Carer

We have a fantastic opportunity for parents to apply for an increase in data allowances on mobile phones for free.  This is a scheme by the Department for Education to ensure that no students miss out on their online school work during this challenging time.  If you are successful in applying then you will be able to use this extra data to ensure your son/daughter is always able to go online and access their remote learning.

To apply for this, you must meet the three criteria below:

1.   Do not have fixed broadband at home

2.   Cannot afford additional data for their devices

3.   Are experiencing disruption to their face-to-face education

At present, students with a mobile phone on the following networks can apply:

  • EE
  • O2
  • Sky Mobile
  • SMARTY
  • Tesco Mobile
  • Three
  • Virgin Mobile
  • Vodafone

Other providers will join the scheme at a later stage.

If you meet the criteria above and would like to apply please complete the form - the link has been sent to parents
