Gloucester Academy

Year 11 Leaving

28th May 2021

Dear Year 11 families

I am writing to thank you for all of your support and dedication this year through some very extraordinary and challenging times.  We understand that it has not been easy navigating through the disruption caused by the pandemic and we thank all of you for your hard work and resilience each and every day.

We feel that our Year 11 students have secured the necessary evidence for us to award a fair and reflective grade for each subject they have studied over the past two years.  The students in Year 11 have surpassed themselves in their dedication to achieve and because of this we feel that they are ready to move on to the next stage of their education.

Year 11 will no longer need to attend Gloucester Academy each day from Friday 28th May 2021 unless required as indicated below.

Final assessments

The assessments left to complete in school are:

  • French on Monday 7th June 2021 8.35am
  • Spanish on Tuesday 8th June 2021 8.35am
  • Any missed assessments from the last four weeks

Where an assessment has been missed due to absence students will be contacted and given a date and time to complete the missed assessment. All of our students will have work set on google classroom to ensure that they are fully prepared for the next stage of their education.  The google classroom will have lessons and work that they can complete to take to their college or sixth form.

Celebration

The end of secondary school is a milestone for all of our students.  Therefore, we would naturally like to celebrate this by hosting an end of school assembly.  During the assembly students will celebrate their achievements and have a chance to wish each other well as they pass on to the next stage of their journey.  This assembly will take place on the 5th of July 2021 at 11.30.am, details will follow.

The Year 11 Prom will of course take place on the 6th of July 2021 at Manor by the Lake in Cheltenham.  It is important that only the students who are deserving to be a part of this celebration attend this wonderful and privileged event. Your child will receive an invitation to the prom based on their attendance throughout year 11 as well as their behaviour and overall attitude during KS4.

We wish all of our Year 11 well and can’t wait to celebrate with them all. Exams results will be collected on the 12th August details on this will follow.

Yours sincerely
