Eid Ul Fitr

Good Afternoon

With only a few days left of the blessed month of Ramadhan and Eid Ul Fitr fast approaching, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our Muslim community & families at Gloucester Academy a very special Eid.

Whilst we appreciate that the day is going to be a busy one with celebrations we expect any absence to be reported via email only on the address below. We expect that all absences are requested in advance of Eid, we understand that the day of the celebration is not yet certain, however this will ensure that our records are accurate, and our students are safe.

In your email please make clear that Eid is the reason for the absence. Regardless of whether Eid falls on the 12th or 13th of May only one day of absence will be authorised. Any subsequent days of absence will be unauthorised.

We are in the process of collecting evidence for submission of grades for the current Year 11 cohort. All of our Year 11s have graded assessments from the week beginning Monday 10th May 2021. These assessments are essential for the submission of evidence, and whilst we understand this poses a challenge with Eid, no one can afford to miss the exams.

If Eid falls on Wednesday 12th May 2021, we still expect your child to attend for their exam. Exams will start at 09:00 and we understand that the local Mosques have made provisions for multiple Eid Prayers.

If Eid is on Thursday 13th of May 2021, only those students who have missed an earlier graded assessment will be required to come in to sit their exams . If your child is only attending for an exam, they must still wear full school uniform.

It is of vital importance to us, as a school, that we recognise the diverse nature of the community whom we serve and are delighted that we are able to make this exception to our attendance policy in this instance.

EID Mubarak
