Letter from the Head - 12th February 2021

12th February 2021

Dear GA Families

It has been an absolute honour to be the Headteacher of GA throughout this challenging period.  The community spirit that has been shown by everyone has really supported everyone to be absolutely agreed on one thing, that we all want the very best for the children in our care.

We recognised the incredible focus of students through an enhanced rewards programme for all those home learners, as well as the families putting in all of the incredible support.  We have particularly enjoyed seeing the pictures of the weekly 'Dinner On Us' which allows us to show our gratitude to the support given to our students, by giving the family a night off and the reward of a takeaway of their choice.

Over 200 Chromebooks and laptops have been provided to students to make sure they have access to the online curriculum, and live lessons.  As well as continued on site provision for vulnerable students.  This is supported by many phone calls made each day by supporting staff. Please email cgasher@gloucesteracademy.co.uk if you would like to make use of the onsite provision i.e. for children of key workers, or vulnerable students.

Each morning the live year group assemblies have been a great start to the day, and attendance at this has shown to support students as they start a day of online learning.  Please do continue to let us know if there is anything else we can do.

Fun Friday is a great event each week, please support your child to email their entry by Thursday each week.

Finally, may I thank you on behalf of all of the staff at GA for the many messages of support and thanks.  I agree that they are an incredible group and are incredibly committed to supporting all our children and their families.

Have a very restful, safe and well deserved half-term break.

Your sincerely

Mr Jonathan Heap
