Y7-10 Home Learning Letter 4.01.2021

Dear Parent/Carer

Remote Learning (Years 7-10)

First of all, may I wish you all a happy new year and I trust you are all fit and well. I am writing to update you on the remote learning provision we are providing for your child for the next fortnight starting on Tuesday 5th January 2021.

A timetable, with links to all lessons, will be uploaded onto Google Classroom (classroom.google.com) and a copy will also be emailed to you by the end of the day.   Students will need to access the Google Classroom using their school email address and password.  These details have been written down in their Knowledge Organisers.  Work needs to be completed in their homework practice books which teachers will check when students return to school. If there are any problems accessing Google Classroom please contact support@gloucesteracademy.co.uk who will be happy to help.

Students will need to log onto Google Classroom each morning at 8.40.am where they will have a virtual meeting with their Head of Year who will give them a welcome message and any updates. Students will then start their lessons as per the timetable.

The lessons are of an exceptionally high quality and will continue from your child’s normal scheme of work.  It is incredibly important that your child follows the timetable and completes all lessons as the lessons will not be repeated when students return to school.  There will be a register on Google Classroom that students will need to answer at the specified time for each lesson.

Throughout each lesson, a specialist teacher will be on Google Classroom to help with any questions a student may have.  There is an option to send an individual message to the teacher within Google Classroom, and students are encouraged to use this feature if they are struggling to understand certain aspects of the lesson.

Homework should be completed as normal, as shown in the timetable on Google Classroom.  This will also be checked by teachers upon returning to school.

If you have any questions about the remote learning provision, we have created a Frequently Answered Questions document which is available on the school website which provides more detail.

Thank you for your continued support

Yours faithfully

Mr J Watson
